The First in Synthetics AMSOIL History
As a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years, Albert Amatuzio, acquired a great amount of information about the use of
Synthetic Lubricants in jet engines.
These lubricants protected the jet engines by standing up to the friction and temperature changes these engines tolerated on a daily basis.
In the mid 1960's, he began a research and development program employing the most knowledgeable chemists in the field to formulate the first synthetic motor oil for use in automobiles.
In 1972 AMSOIL's 10W-40 grade 100% Synthetic Motor Oil was introduced and sold commercially to the general public.
From its inception, AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil was recognized as the very first of its kind to meet the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API).
Today AMSOIL markets the XL line of API certified synthetic motor oil.
As of this year, AMSOIL has been certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in recognition of product quality and offered services.
AMSOIL has also received certification for its Quality Management System or QMS and meets the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
